Finding a Twitter client

After running through the Internet forest, I was able to pinpoint some the applications that I could use for "tweeting" using my laptop. I am using the following:

openSUSE 11.2
GNOME desktop environment

And here is the list of Twitter clients that I tried using YAST:

(1) Twitux - never got it to work - kept hanging up on 'Connecting...'
(2) Pidgin - no native Twitter support - need to install plugins etc. - left it at that - want a quick and easy solution ;)
(3) Gwibber - expected more from this but after install and trying to start it up the first time, it gave me the following error:

///////////
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/bin/gwibber", line 57, in
from gwibber.client import GwibberClient
File "/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/gwibber/client.py", line 12, in
from . import gwui, config, gintegration, configui, resources

File "/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/mako/filters.py", line 11, in
import markupsafe
ImportError: No module named markupsafe

///////

I guess I was missing some libraries. But as before, I wanted something quick and easy.

(4) Choqok - worked perfectly from the beginning. The first step was to setup the KWallet system and then do the OAuth Authentication. Once both were complete, the application was able to pull up my Twitter account without any issues :)

I think that Twitux might work if I could get the OAAuth Authentication setup correctly. But as I said I wanted a software package that would walk me through it with ease and Choqok did that superbly. I was hesistant (and still am) of using a KDE application on my GNOME desktop but I have found out that for some tasks KDE applications have more features and are more stable and 'complete' than their GNOME counterparts. But I still love GNOME! :)

So my vote, for a Twitter GNOME client, goes to Choqok.

Signing off,

The one, the only,
